Happy New Year 2010!

Let’s hope it’s a good one for you and yours. As for me, 2009 was not too bad a year. I got in touch with a psychiatrist (whom I am seeing again tomorrow), got back into “talk therapy” with a counselor (whom I see later this month), made some adjustments to my lifestyle, and tried to take a larger part in doing family things for my wife…especially the last couple of months. That’s why you haven’t seen me here for a while.

The other big news is that my wife is expecting our third child sometime in mid-summer. That news came as a giant unexpected surprise. We’re not upset, we’re just surprised another child is coming soon.

Another big thing this past year is not being afraid to get in touch with my past. Right now I’m listening to music that I enjoyed hearing when I was 14-16 years old. Though not a pleasant time in my life (bullying at school, etc.) the music brings back good memories of home. I have a milestone high school class reunion coming this summer that I am probably going to attend. It’ll be good to see my classmates.

Advent was stressful with so many shut-ins to see and so many services to prepare. We got away to see my wife’s family for a few days after Christmas. Then I got sick, my wife got sick, and our oldest child got sick! We hope our youngest child will avoid the nastiness.

If last year was a bad year, I pray you have a much better year this year. Here’s to better mental health and a faith in Jesus Christ that clings to Him through the best and worst of times!
