A Special Anniversary with A Surprise Twist

It was a year ago around this time when my whole life turned upside down.

I didn’t know going in that when I left that conference I attended last year that my life would never be the same…for the good.

What progress have I made? Lots!

1. I’m in a better frame of mind now than last July. Most of the solution is medication. I have my moments of anxiety and anger, but most of that is under control.

2. I sought help. My current counselor and I have met for several months. We’re now meeting every three months because my life is under control. If I need the counselor before then, I call.

3. I lost weight. Some of it is back, but I am healthier.

4. I discovered a couple new hobbies. I took up bowling. It’s not a summertime sport but it is good therapy in the dreary wintertime. I’ve also discovered beekeeping. God willing, I will start keeping bees next year.

5. I am not afraid to speak out about my illness. I’m open and honest about what I went through. Ask me. I’ll tell you. Maybe you are suffering from depression and/or anxiety and need help. How may I help you?

6. I love my wife more now than ever. She can’t climb inside my sick head, but she loves me unconditionally. That helps heaps!

7. I spend more time with my children. There are times when they drive me crazy, but I’m working on it every day.

I’m sure there’s more, but I’ll stop for now.

As a present to you, my dear readers, on my one-year anniversary of knowing myself better than ever, I am going to do something I thought I’d never do. I’m going to take off my mask and reveal my secret identity. If Dark My Road (Todd Peperkorn) can do it, so can I.

Here goes!

619 all the way, baby!
